Journeymen Domicile

Journeymen Domicile is designed for the foreign workers working for a restaurant, D' Brother's Kitchen located in suburban area of Hulu Langat ,Selangor. Thus, the design scheme is carefully planned with intention to provide a shelter for them to live a quality life that filled with positive yet interactive social engagement with their housemate.

Co-living + Sensation of Space

​Design intention of the journeyman domicile is to carefully design interlocking spaces which emphasize users interaction in order to resolve social isolation. Hence, the building manipulated level difference for a fun layering of living environment. The building as well played with void and double volume to strengthen the transition from one space to another. Glazing and fenestration are strategically applied for transparency, intended to enrich visual interaction, either with people or nature.

Double Volume

Double volume and void in between private living space and common sharing space enable user to experience the change of volume, strengthen the sense of entring a space and is effective for natural ventalation.

Social Meeting Point

Preliminary conceptual sketch that illustrated the idea of having a central core as social meeting point, enable users from each isolated public space of different function to capture the happening activities at same time.

Internal Courtyard

The internal courtyard is an intersection point of social interaction between high and low level spaces. It is also a breathing space to sustain continuity of external green penetrate throuh an enclosed space.

Kitchenette / Pantry

A simple kitchenette that can be mixed used as a pantry is provided for the preparation of quick and easy meals on daily basis.

Balcony

An extended path in between hallway leading to an extruded balcony that breaks the long and dull stretch of corridor by bringing in green elements.

Viewing Platform

The platform serves as an observational space that provide aerial view of the attached mini-park, the affiliated restaurant and its surrounding neighborhood
